Average occupancy rate of guest rooms in Macau increase 52.3%
Up to 556,000 mainland guests checked into hotels & guesthouses, a 904.3% rise
According to Macau Daily Times, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms was 52.3 percent in the first seven months of 2021, a 27.3 percent point increase year-on-year.
The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) compiled data that revealed the average occupancy rate of guest rooms increased by 51.6 percentage points year-on-year to 63.7 percent in July.
With that, 5-star hotels soared by 55.8 percentage points.
Moreover, the number of guests checked into hotels & guesthouses jumped by 358.6 percent year-on-year to 697,000 in July.
Out of that figure, 556,000 were mainland guests, a 904.3 percent increase from the low base last year, while local guests rose by 31.1 percent to 107,000.
A total of 4,075,000 guests of hotels & guesthouses were recorded.
Inbound package tour visitors weren’t present in July, while the number of visitors joining local tours added up to 5,000.

Outbound residents using travel agency services totalled 21,000, and 99 percent of them visited mainland China.
Additionally, the number of visitors joining local tours jumped by 246.1 percent year-on-year to 32,000 in the first seven months of 2021.
