Max Estates’ Sahil Vachani receives first India Real Estate Personality of the Year award
The former consumer durables leader and investment banker brings a youthful, transformative energy to Max Group
The 3rd Annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (India) have made history, inaugurating the first ever recipient of the India Real Estate Personality of the Year award.
Sahil Vachani, CEO and managing director of Max Estates Limited, accepted the prestigious honour in an exclusive awards presentation and luncheon at The Athenee, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok on 9 December.
“I’m humbled to receive the Real Estate Personality of the Year Award, and I would like to thank the entire team at PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (India) and PropertyGuru Group for honouring me with this award,” says Sahil. “I must commend the entire team for organising a magnificent event, which would not have been possible without great time, dedication, and effort.”
Sahil was once regarded as one of the finest business leaders in India under 40. Upon joining Max Group, Sahil set about to revitalise the well-known Indian brand by diverting its focus from specialty packaging films to the development of sustainable commercial spaces. Max Estates, the property development arm of Max Group, was born, quickly gaining a reputation for building premium offices across Delhi NCR.
With Sahil as its driving force, Max Estates has built some of India’s best workplaces: LEED- and IGBC-certified, Grade A+ commercial spaces housing some of the world’s most famous brands. The company’s flagship commercial project, Max Towers, is just one of a few LEED Platinum-rated structures in India. The company is also behind Max House, a Grade A+ commercial project home to several high-profile tech tenants.
Both developments enjoyed near to full occupancy even through the pandemic, attesting to the widespread goodwill towards the company under Sahil.
Max Estates’ commercial projects operate under Sahil’s philosophy of Work Well, reimagining the workplace as a holistic confluence of collaboration, innovation, and community that ensures the wellbeing of their occupants. Max Estates is set to push its game-changing ecosystems to the residential front as Sahil promotes the Live Well philosophy, expanding the company’s portfolio in 2023.
As an employer, Sahil is known for his empathetic governance, with a commitment to employee safety and wellbeing, human rights, competitive wages, and non-discriminatory hiring practices. “I’d like to dedicate this award to my team at Max Estates where we continually strive to deliver on our purpose to enhance the quality of lives through the spaces that we create,” Sahil says.
Well-versed in disruptive innovation and investment banking, Sahil also sits on the board of Max Life, India’s largest non-bank-owned private life insurer. Prior to joining Max Group, the University of Warwick alumnus charted an entrepreneurial career in consumer durables. He co-founded Dixon Appliances Pvt. Ltd, a complete solutions provider for home appliances to the largest brands in India.
Sahil will likely be taking similarly bold, inventive choices in the future. Where transformation is happening to the Indian property sector, the first India Real Estate Personality of the Year awardee is sure to be there.
