A night of glitz and glamour at the 2019 PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards
The event recognised the remarkable achievements of the country’s finest development firms with a prestigious gala dinner at the Fairmont Makati

It was a night of glitz and glamour at the 7th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards which took place at the Fairmont Makati Hotel on 5 July 2019.
Presented by platinum sponsor, Kohler, the event was attended by more than 250 guests that included some of the Philippines’ finest developers, many hopeful in eager anticipation of the winners’ results. Issa Litton, the event’s emcee, masterfully guided the awards ceremony that allowed the best projects and developers to truly shine.
The gala dinner kicked off with a luxurious reception, followed by the opening remarks of Jules Kay, director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, Christophe Vicic, chairperson of the judging panel and country Manager of JLL Philippines, and Michael D. Roxas, chairman of BDO Roxas, Cruz, Tagle & Company.

“The PropertyGuru awards represent different factors that support the Philippines’ property development, not just from a domestic point of view, but also on the international scene,” said Christophe.
The main highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2019 Philippines Real Estate Personality of the Year award to the biggest name in Philippine real estate and business sectors: the late Henry Sy Sr., and the entire Sy Family of SM Investments Corporation. The award was graciously accepted by Hans Sy Jr., grandson of Henry, who shared kind words affirming the credibility and importance of the awards to the Philippines.
Cebu Landmasters Inc. won the Best Developer Award, validating their status amongst established industry names, and proudly attributed their win to their chairman and founder, Jose Soberano III. The Cebu Landmasters Inc. team who attended the awards included Jess Kabigting, vice president for Operations, Connie N. Guieb, vice president, accounting and finance/finance controller, and Engr. Jun Capistrano, vice president for engineering.
As part of the awards categories, special recognitions for Digital Innovation and Public Facility were awarded to the University of the Philippines Cebu and DOST-PCIEERD, and MWM Terminals, respectively.
The event’s attendees were treated to a sumptuous three-course dinner of salmon, pea soup and braised beef followed by a sinfully delightful chocolate dessert while they enjoyed a fantastic vocal performance by the evening’s entertainment.
