$85 million invested in Mandaluyong hotel project in the Philippines
Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) invests PHP4.1 billion (USD85 million) for development of Westin Sonata Place Hotel project in Mandaluyong City

The Board of Investments of Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) has approved investing PHP4.1 billion for a hotel project, with the Department of Tourism (DOT) agreeing to endorse the development, reported Real Estate News.PH.
As stated by the Board of Investments (BOI), the Westin Manila Sonata Place Hotel would be RLC’s first expansion into the Marriott International Hotel brand that is globally acclaimed for its top-grade service and facilities.
The hotel will comprise of 303 rooms in total, as well as MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, and exhibition) amenities, recreational spaces, fitness studio, food and beverage settings, full-service spa, and a swimming pool. Guestrooms will also be furnished with an ergonomic work area and the brand’s signature facilities.
In order to cater to the current global pandemic situation, the hotel will adhere to the practices of the Marriott chain to advance global cleanliness preparations and hospitality standards.
Construction of the Westin Manila Sonata Place Hotel is scheduled to begin in March 2022 with 400 workers on-site. The project also contributes to the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) “buy local” initiative, which aims to encourage consumption of local products and services to help domestic enterprises recover from the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Once the hotel is operational, BOI expects the project to improve the revenue of Filipino furniture designers, food & beverage suppliers, and handicraft manufacturers.
Ceferino Rodolfo, Trade Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head stated, “tourism/accommodation is among the few industries to have registered a growth uptick among project approvals this year as new hotels are established with COVID-19 proofing measures to ensure tourists are safe and secure. With the much-needed government support by incentivising their efforts, we prepare the country’s industry players for the post-pandemic scenario wherein tourism will finally make its considerable presence felt in the economy.”
At the 2020 PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards, The Residences at The Westin Manila Sonata Place by Robinsons Land Corporation nabbed the Highly Commended title for the Best High End Condo Development (Metro Manila) category.
