Vietnam Green Travel Pass to help boost economic and tourism activities
The digital app tracks various information such as test results, COVID-19 recovery, and vaccine certificates
As reported on VN Express, Vietnam’s Tourism Advisory Board suggested trying out green travel passes to allow fully vaccinated tourists or those recovering from COVID-19 to travel with ease around the country.
The Vietnam Green Travel Pass is a digital app that tracks test results, COVID-19 recovery, and vaccine certificates, in order to create conditions for people to conveniently travel within the country and help restore tourism and economic activities.
The travel pass would be issued to fully vaccinated individuals, COVID-19 patients with recovery certificates, as well as those who have been tested negative within the previous 72 hours.
Hoang Nhan Chinh, chief general secretary of Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board, said that many countries have launched digital travel passes that allow residents to use their vaccination certificates for domestic activities and travelling.
During the process of testing out the green travel pass, the government should also prioritise negotiations of mutual recognition agreements with ASEAN countries, EU nations, and International Air Transport Association’s Travel Pass.
Tourism experts do not expect Vietnam to consider opening borders to foreign tourists until at least 2022.
The country closed its borders and cancelled all international flights since March last year, with the exception of certain categories of visitors following strict quarantine requirements.

Most localities across the country imposed strict lockdowns and suspended tourism activities to manage the Delta variant.
So far, Vietnam has vaccinated around 20 million residents, and more than 2.16 million people have been fully vaccinated.
