UEM Sunrise Berhad CEO named 2018 Malaysia Real Estate Personality
PropertyGuru Group, Asia’s foremost online property company, will present the 2018 Malaysia Real Estate Personality of the Year award to Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, managing director and CEO of UEM Sunrise Berhad, at the fifth annual gala dinner of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) on Thursday evening (26 April).
The sole award that was not selected by the programme’s independent judging panel, it will be presented by the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report to an individual who has made significant contributions to the rapidly growing property and construction sectors in the country.
Anwar Syahrin, 45, was selected for helping elevate the Malaysian real estate sector through vision, innovation and hard work.
“With masterfully-designed projects such as the acclaimed Almás @ Puteri Harbour mixed-use development in Johor, Anwar Syahrin’s team remains committed to the development of Malaysia’s southern region with their range of affordable and high-end properties,” said the editors of their selection.
A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from London’s Imperial College, the executive earned his MBA from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom. He started his career in transport and logistics in 1996, and worked in senior and director-level positions in various firms. He became the chief of UEM Sunrise Berhad in September 2014, bringing a wealth of knowledge from previous industries where he worked.
Describing his current management style as “leadership by example,” Anwar Syahrin says he believes in the “power of unity, harmony and diversity” and his team’s main goal as respected property developers is to build communities that bring joy and happiness to consumers.
“To be recognised as the Malaysia Real Estate Personality of the Year is a great honour and delight. Ultimately, for UEM Sunrise and myself on a personal level, this award motivates us to keep striving to maintain our position as a leader in the property development industry,” he said.
This recognition is being presented to Anwar Syahrin during the 10thanniversary of UEM Sunrise Berhad as property developer. He dedicates his award to the collective efforts of the talented, imaginative and dedicated individuals within the UEM Sunrise family, whom he calls “The Titans – driven by passion and commitment, every Titan makes it their priority to deeply understand what homeowners and businesses need to fit into a community where they can thrive and prosper.
Anwar Syahrin says his company’s mission, as both master developer and developer, lies in their customer-centric culture of building happy communities.
“Together, our greatest accomplishments are designing holistic, exceptional living spaces focused on long-term sustainability, integrating ‘placemaking’ aspirations to develop thriving communities, and delivering happiness to our customers by constructing industry-leading masterpieces infused with best property management practices,” he said.
