Thailand seeks to position itself as global tourism hub
Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has called on governors of 55 second-tier tourist provinces and tourism authorities to further develop infrastructure and offerings as well as explore measures to position the country as a global tourism hub in line with the Government’s “Ignite Thailand” vision.
Prime Minister Srettha laid out his strategy to boost the Thai economy in the second half of this year at a recent meeting with the 55 provincial governors, executives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and representatives from related private bodies.
According to VietnamPlus, the PM underlined the importance of enhancing connectivity between well-established and second-tier tourist destinations to spread the benefits of tourism nationwide as part of the overall “Ignite Thailand” vision.
Hundred Islands Park in the Philippines logs more than 2K weekend visitors
The Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) in Alaminos City, Pangasinan has recorded more than 1,000 daily tourist arrivals on weekdays and more than 2,000 on weekends since the start of June.
City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office assistant head Rose Aruelo, in an interview on 14th June, attributed the volume of visitors to the end of classes, as well as the absence of weather disturbances despite the start of the rainy season.
“Nakahanda kami sa more than 1,000 (visitors) daily. Normal pa din (We are prepared to welcome more than 1,000 visitors daily. That’s still within our normal range),” she said in a report in PNA.
The number of daily visitors since the start of June has exceeded by about 200 to 300 on weekdays and 500 to 1,000 on weekends compared to a year ago, she said.
