Booming markets such as Brisbane and Gold Coast emerge as dynamic backdrops for Australia’s leading real estate honours

BRISBANE, Australia — The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) launched their eighth edition with the inaugural “Asia Connect: Brisbane” event, expanding the programme’s reach into thriving, emerging markets such as Queensland.

Queensland’s momentum

Queensland continues to be one of Australia’s most attractive destinations in which to live, invest, and work, according to insights from the independent consultancy Charter Keck Cramer. With lifestyle appeal and improving infrastructure, cities like Brisbane and the Gold Coast are seeing sustained demand from both domestic and international buyers.

The apartment markets in Brisbane and Gold Coast experienced a very strong year in 2024. Increasingly on the radar of foreign capital, Brisbane offers solid market fundamentals and rising property values—now surpassing even Melbourne—while Gold Coast benefits from structural shifts in living preferences among Australian property seekers and growing demand from Baby Boomers.

As the 2032 Olympics approach, both cities face construction pressures yet continue to see strong demand from owner-occupiers, downsizers, and investors alike.

Ivan Lam, chairperson of the judges, PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia), and executive director for international business at Charter Keck Cramer, said: “We proudly launch our awards’ eighth edition amid Australia’s suburban growth, driven by demand for residences beyond city centres—especially from buyers undeterred by market shifts. With new categories this year, we honour developers who have agilely adapted to market shifts, delivering designs and masterplans that meet the needs of diverse property seekers in Australia. With economic stability improving and pressures easing, we are optimistic about long-term investment in Australia’s property market. As more projects rise, we look forward to celebrating innovation and excellence that will define the future of Australian real estate, setting benchmarks for 2025 and beyond.”

New categories

Reflecting these market shifts, the 2025 Awards in Australia may include new categories such as Best Township Developer; Best Community Developer; Best Mega Township Development; Best Completed Mixed Use Development; Best Oceanview Condo Development; Best Oceanview Housing/Landed Development; Best Multigeneration Living Condo Development; Best Multigeneration Living Housing/Landed Development; Best Renovated Residential Development; Best Renovated Commercial Development; and Best Affordable Condo Interior Design.

Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events, said: “With Australian real estate commanding global interest, we are thrilled to unveil our 2025 awards to showcase world-class projects to discerning property seekers throughout Asia Pacific. Alongside Melbourne and Sydney, Brisbane is a worthy addition to our event schedule this year, as Australia’s property market continues to diversify with impressive growth beyond traditional urban hubs. We look forward to celebrating the ingenuity and innovation of developers from all key property destinations at our domestic and international galas later this year.”
