Regional real estate leaders come together for the 18th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final 2023

Developers from different nations gathered to celebrate notable achievements in the industry, with the hopeful expectation of receiving one of the presented honours

On December 8th, distinguished professionals representing the developers across thirteen countries of Asia’s real estate industry gathered at The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok for the 18th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final 2023.

The real estate landscape in Asia and all its achievements, ambition, and creativity has been chronicled by the awards programme. This serves as a reminder of the different developers and developments who redefine excellence and influence the trajectory of real estate in Asia. 

The event started at 7:00 PM, with hosts Issa Litton and Jack Prinya Ruenprapa greeting the guests of the night. Following his opening remarks, the focus shifted to a video presentation offering a glimpse into the evening’s upcoming activities. After a brief explanation of the awards format and the evening’s schedule, the initial speakers took the stage.

PropertyGuru Group’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Joe Dische began the evening as the first speaker, followed by PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards & Events General Manager Mr. Jules Kay. Third on the roster was General Director of Group GSA Vietnam, Mr. Thien Duong, then finally HLB International Real Estate Group’s Mr. Paul Ashburn.

The hosts offered their heartfelt gratitude to the speakers and gave a dinner reminder before bringing the attention to the live band and the presentation of the Independent Panel of Judges.The Grand Final Chairperson was none other than the previously introduced General Director of GroupGSA Vietnam Mr. Thien Duong.

The rest of the panel consisted of the different Chairpersons across the countries hosting domestic awards. These include Australia’s Awards Chairperson Lui Violanti, Sorn Seap from Cambodia, Ken Ip from Mainland China, Paul Tse from Hong Kong and Macau, Suohin Mechuchep from Thailand, Eddie Guillemette from Greater Niseko, Kristin Thorsteins from Singapore, Ajai A Kapoor from India, Vivin Harasanto from Indonesia, Cyndy Tan Jarabata fro the Philippines, and Datuk Ar. Ezumi Harzani Ismail from Malaysia.

Before the awards were officially announced, the hosts extended their gratitude to the events partners and sponsors, as well as presented a video from Platinum Sponsor Kohler. They then gave a reminder that the panel of judges had conducted on-site assessments of the nominated projects within a specific time frame in order to decide each award’s recipient.

A span of 51 awards were presented across different categories such as design, development, developer, and publisher’s choice. The awarding began with the design category, including a video presentation from platinum Sponsor Kohler about their partnership with the awards in the midst of them. The category ended, leading into an intermission performance by The Voice Thailand finalist Wan Wanwan with an amazing rendition of Levitating by Dua Lipa. 

The hosts then proceeded with the development awards which was rounded up by another shout out to the night’s partners and sponsors, as well as a video from Supporting Partner REHDA Institute. This round of awards was brought to an end by a significant recognition chosen by the editors of Property Report by PropertyGuru. The honour of PropertyGuru Icon of 2023 was presented to none other than the Founder and Chairman, Lan Kwai Fong Group, Dr. Allan Zeman.

Developer awards were presented next , holding a video from Supporting Partner International Finance Corporation (IFC) among the announcements. Capping off the awards and the night was the announcement of one of the most anticipated awards of the night, the Best Developer in Asia 2023. The honour was given to GuocoLand, Singapore for the second time after they received the title in 2020.

The night ended with winners, developers, and esteemed guests alike coming together for a group photo to celebrate together and create a lasting memory in the Winners Hall of Fame.
