The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) programme returns for its fourth annual edition, accolading the outstanding residential, commercial and industrial developments across the continent from New South Wales to Western Australia.

The 4th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) programme is now accepting nominations from the general public and official entries until Friday, 17 September 2021. At stake are seven new categories, giving recognition to the wealth of enduring heritage properties and innovatively built contemporary spaces in Australia.

In 2021, organisers of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) are on the lookout for entries and nominees to such never-before-presented categories as Best Heritage Development, Best Heritage Architectural Design, and Best Heritage Interior Design: honouring the best examples of renovation, reuse and redevelopment in historical buildings throughout the continent.

Other new competitive categories this year include Best Industrial Development, open to projects in the manufacturing and logistics sectors; Best Build to Rent Development; Best Mixed Use Architectural Design; and Best Masterplan Design.

Key dates for the 2021 edition: 

  • 1 January 2021 – Entries Open
  • 17 September 2021 – Entries Close
  • 27 September-15 October – Site inspections
  • 19 October 2021 – Final Judging
  • 9 December 2021– Virtual Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony (Australia edition)
  • 9 December 2021 – Regional Grand Final Gala Event

Roundtable of market experts

Launching a resilient new year for PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia), organisers staged on 15 July a virtual roundtable that invited some of the biggest specialists in the Australian property market.

The event, broadcast worldwide via Zoom and Facebook, was moderated by Jules Kay, managing director of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events, and introduced by Lui Violanti, regional manager for Western Australia at Inhabit Group and chairperson of the Awards’ independent judging panel.

Drawing on years of experience in cross-border investment, Ivan Lam, head of international business at the full-service property advisory firm Charter Keck Cramer, discussed tools and resources available to overseas investors as well as the high benchmarks set by PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) for investment properties in Australia. He also revealed the top sources of inbound investment in Australian real estate and the strongest segments therein.

Leonie Klaric, co-founder of The Property Expert International, the advisory service specialising in prestige properties, provided her outlook on residential and commercial segments in New South Wales in the context of the pandemic. She also weighed in on heritage conservation as a vital component of property development in Australia.

The roundtable was also an opportunity to get to know HLB Mann Judd – HLB Australasia, the new Official Supervisor of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia). Josh Chye, partner and head of tax at HLB Mann Judd – HLB Australasia, informed roundtable viewers on the ways Australia’s leading business advisers and accountants would uphold the credibility, fairness and transparency of the Awards.

Top-echelon awardees

Recipients of this year’s PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) will be revealed on 9 December. Winning developers and projects in top categories from the Australia event will proceed on the same day to the 16th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final where they will compete with other country awardees, representing top-echelon companies and developments throughout Asia Pacific.

The 4th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) and the 16th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final will be aired as virtual gala events and awards ceremonies on AsiaPropertyAwards.com/tv-podcast and the official channels on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube.

For the first time ever, highlights of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) will be shown on the History Channel, the Official Cable TV Partner of the Awards, extending the market reach of awardees to a global audience that includes consumers and property agents.

The 2021 edition of the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit, the tech and thought leadership platform of PropertyGuru Group, will precede the Australia event and Grand Final as part of this year’s PropertyGuru Week.

The filming and airing of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series will follow Covid-19 restrictions and protocols and comply with health and safety standards.
