Leading developers shine at the inaugural in-person gala of the 6th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Australia 2023

The country’s developers gather to celebrate the industry’s finest, with high hopes of clinching one of the numerous awards presented during the night

Last Friday, October 13th, top developers representing various real estate markets across Australia gathered in-person for the first time at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne for the 6th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Australia in 2023.

The real estate industry in Australia has consistently pushed the boundaries in pursuit of excellence, setting higher standards and championing sustainable development. The awards ceremony serves as a testament to the industry’s significant achievements, offering recognition for exceptional accomplishments, fostering collaboration, and shaping the future of real estate in Australia.

The evening began at 7:00 PM with host Gynen Kyra delivering her welcoming spiel. Following the conclusion of her remarks, she transitioned the focus to a video presentation, previewing the upcoming events of the night. After a brief overview of the awards structure and the forthcoming program, the other initial speakers for the evening were introduced.

Mr. Jules Kay, who serves as the GM of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards & Events started off the sequence of speakers for the night. He was then followed by Mr. Lui Violanti, the Chairperson and Regional Manager for Western Australia at Inhabit Group. Lastly, Partner and Head of Tax, Mr. Josh Chye represented the Official Supervisor of HLB Mann Judd – HLB Australasia.

Ms. Kyra followed the speakers with a thanks and a reminder of dinner which would be served as the Independent Panel of Judges was introduced. The panel was headed by Chairperson Lui Violanti, Regional Manager of Western Australian Inhabit Group. Filling up the rest of the panel was Director of Savills Melbourne and Divisional Head of the Asia Market in Victoria Benson Zhou, Head of International Business in Charter Keck Cramer Ivan Lam, Principal of Plus Architecture Jessica Liew, Director of Bayleyward Richard Newling Ward, General Manager of Plus Agency Peter Li, Founder and CEO of Valorton group Steven Yu, General Director of HAYSOM Architects Vietnam Edward Haysom, and Partner with Asian Markets and Winning Commercial Karl Fu. 

Various sponsors and event partners were acknowledged and thanked before the commencement of the award presentation itself. Ms. Kyra briefly elucidated that a panel of judges had conducted on-site evaluations of the nominated projects within a designated time period.

The 42 different awards fell under the categories of design, development, and developer, with some being special awards, Publisher’s Choice, and best of the Philippines. The awards under the design category were capped followed by the 2023 Australia Real Estate Personality Of The Year, one of the more coveted awards which was won by Head of Sales & Marketing at Aqualand, Mr. Alex Adams.

The 24 awards under the development category were then presented, followed by the special recognition awards. Towards the end of the announcement of the developer awards, sponsors and partners of the event were once again acknowledged gratefully by the awards.  Finally, the most awaited award was presented towards the end of the night. The Best Developer of Australia was the crowning jewel of the evening with none other than Chairman of the judges panel Mr. Lui Violanti as the presenter of who would be competing for the title of Best Developer of Asia at the 18th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final. The honour was then presented to none other than Aqualand.

The 6th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Australia 2023 came to an end with all the evening’s winners and esteemed guests assembling on stage for a final group photograph, where they conveyed their gratitude to the various award recipients.
