Thongma Vijitpongpun hailed as newest Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year
The legendary founder of Thai developer Pruksa is honoured at the country’s longest-running real estate awards programme
Thongma Vijitpongpun, founder of Pruksa Real Estate Public Company Limited, was today honoured with the title of Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year at the 18th PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards in an exclusive, black-tie celebration at The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok.
Thailand’s longest-running real estate awards programme provided a fitting platform for Thongma’s impressive achievements. The PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards programme held its latest edition this year as Pruksa marks the 30th anniversary of its founding.
“For the 2023 Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year Award, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to PropertyGuru for taking part in conveying my intentions as well,” said Thongma. “This award is even more valuable because I have a companion moving towards the goal of creating better changes together.”
As Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year, Thongma joins a list of luminaries who have won this award, including Settha Thavisin, Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi, Supaluck Umpujh, Bill Heinecke, and Tos Chirathivat.
The Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year is determined annually by the editorial team of Property Report by PropertyGuru, the official magazine of the Awards.
Thongma is renowned nationwide for blazing trails in the application of prefabricated and precast technologies on property development. Throughout his tenure as Pruksa’s leader, Thongma has revolutionised the way quality and durable homes is built in Bangkok and beyond.

Hailing from humble beginnings as the son of a fish maw trader in Chonburi province, Thongma showed an overarching desire for self-improvement from an early age. Defying adversity, he diligently pursued education: working various jobs while studying English in the evenings. His education ultimately paid off with multiple doctoral degrees and a transformative degree in civil engineering from Chulalongkorn University.
With his engineering know-how, Thongma established the company’s first precast factory in the early 2000s. Pruksa’s precast factories have since multiplied, producing hundreds of residential units monthly and representing the industry standard in efficiency.
Alongside Thongma, Pruksa continues to innovate on construction technologies, invest in research and development, and enhance project designs. Initiatives such as Pruksa REM, a system that emphasises stringent quality control throughout the construction process, exemplify the company’s commitment to excellence. Additionally, Pruksa has adopted cutting-edge foreign technologies in both construction and project management, further cementing its cachet as a real estate giant.
With over 200,000 households having resided in and invested in Pruksa properties, Thongma has touched numerous lives throughout Thailand.
