As part of the 2022 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series, the black-tie event was in celebration of the achievements of Cambodian property developers
The PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards celebrated its seventh edition in person at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra ballroom last Friday, 26 August 2022. This kickstarted the awards series and marked the live comeback of the series as it was previously held virtually.
As part of the 2022 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series, the black-tie event was in celebration of the achievements of Cambodian property developers.
Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events, welcomed the esteemed guests, saying, “We celebrate all the Winners and Highly Commended developers who have set shining examples of the Gold Standard of real estate in Cambodia. It’s exciting to return to a kingdom bustling with well-designed, high-quality real estate developments, from opulent riverside projects in Phnom Penh to outstanding landed homes in Sihanoukville.”
Dinner was served after the opening remarks — a four-course meal was a divine spread meant to please all the senses.
The guests started with pan-seared tuna nicoise and potato and truffle cappuccino. This was followed by duck comfit, mashed potato, and sauteed mushrooms with garlic and parsley with pepper sauce on the side. They ended with lemon panna cotta.
Thirty-six categories were presented during the event, including the Best Breakthrough Developer award, which was presented to Kambujaya Development Co., Ltd; the Best Smart Building Development, which was awarded to KY iCenter by KY Development; and Best Housing Development (Cambodia), which went to The Botanic City (The Palace) by Orkide Villa 3 Co., Ltd.
Best Developer (Cambodia), the most sought-after award of the night, went to Prince Real Estate Group. It was also deemed “highly commended” in the Best Mixed Use Architectural Design category while the Prince International Plaza received the top accolade in the Best Mixed Use Development category. Another project from the firm, One Tropica, was also recognized for Best Housing Masterplan Design.
C.I.A.C. Investment Limited was given the Special Recognition in Sustainable Design and Construction. It was also the Best Industrial Developer award recipient and the Best Industrial Development awardee for Le Urban Eco Park.
Richard Allan Aquino, the senior editor of PropertyGuru Property Report Magazine, presented the 2022 Cambodia Real Estate Personality of the Year award, saying that the recipient, “For the last 17 years, he has solidified Canadia Bank into one of Cambodia’s largest, most stable financial institutions. Among his many achievements as one of the country’s prominent bankers, he helped carry out the Sustainable Finance Initiative, creating environmentally credible lending platforms nationwide.”
He added that the awardee “has made many game-changing real estate investments come to fruition, including the Diamond of Phnom Penh itself, Koh Pich Satellite City, sparking a series of large-scale developments that have improved the quality of life in Cambodia.”
Charles Vann, the Executive Vice-President of Canadia Group and Director of Cambodia Airport Investment Co. Ltd., upon receiving the award, said that the recognition extends to the entire team of Canadia Group and OCIC to be recognised by PropertyGuru as the 2022 Cambodia Real Estate Personality of the Year, as “Being recognised with a PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards is the ultimate honour in regional real estate with both national and regional recognition.”
