PHNOM PENH, Cambodia –– 3 May 2019
Cambodia’s most ambitious and innovative real estate developers ruled the 4th Annual PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards, which presented 38 competitive categories and special awards during an exclusive gala dinner on Friday, 3 May 2019, at the prestigious Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra ballroom.
Presented by global brand Kohler, the prestigious competition recognises and promotes excellence in real estate development, design and innovation within the industry. It was the biggest gala dinner and ceremony hosted by Asia’s leading property technology company PropertyGuru Group to date, welcoming 370 guests.
Recently rebranded Peng Huoth Group collected the highest honour for Best Developer – its fourth consecutive win in this category – becoming the first-ever developer to achieve this feat in the 14-year history of the region-wide PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards programme.
“Peng Huoth Group cements its status as the premier real estate developer in Cambodia, with its grand scale design of master-planned communities, CSR efforts, and sustainable neighbourhoods such as the acclaimed Grand Star Platinum and the Star Diamond projects. Peng Houth Group remains engaged in what their customers and what the market needs to move forward following its new regional strategy to promote Cambodia’s real estate and construction sectors,” said the independent panel of judges.
Top nominee Max Credit Pawn Lte Ltd earned the Best Boutique Developer gong, whilst NI Development Co. Ltd’s co-founder and managing director Oknha Nito H. Lim was honoured as the 2019 Cambodia Real Estate Personality of the Year for his outstanding contributions to the commercial segment.
The exclusive gala event was keynoted by the Guest of Honour, His Excellency Dr Pen Sophal, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction. The Ministry also took home an accolade for its new Cambodia Construction mobile application, which received the new Special Recognition for Digital Innovation.
With the impressive growth of its building sector, Cambodia has been touted as one of the emerging investment destinations in the ASEAN region, a point highlighted by the incumbent chairperson of the judging panel, Sorn Seap, Founder & Director, Key Real Estate Co Ltd, in his opening remarks.
Some of the memorable awards presented at the gala event included Best Lifestyle Community Development, Best Data Centre Development, Best Hotel Casino Development, Best Township Development and Best Township Masterplan Design, all of which represented the scope and growth of the domestic property market.
Hari V. Krishnan, Chief Executive Officer of PropertyGuru Group, said: “We applaud the winning and highly commended companies in Cambodia for their collective drive, ambition and efforts to produce the finest properties for consumers and investors in the country. Cambodian developers increasingly make their achievements known to the Asian real estate community. PropertyGuru also commends the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction for leading the way in promoting real estate technology with their award-winning Cambodia Construction App, which we hope will inspire more digital innovation in this fast-growing sector.”
Jules Kay, the new business director of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, said: “We are extremely proud to host our fourth PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards ceremony and gala dinner here in Phnom Penh. With intelligent master planning, innovative designs and varied multi-sector products, Cambodia is making the most of its strategic location in Asia to develop a broad range of residential, commercial and industrial projects – not only in the capital city, but also in other fast developing parts of the country. The market here offers a strong combination of domestic and international investment opportunities, supported by an open business environment that allows new entrants, large and small, to succeed.”
This year’s independent panel of expert judges included panel members: David Littlejohn, Sales & Marketing Manager, Comin Khmere; Jovany Antonio, Managing Director/Founder, CMS Property Management; Michel Cassagnes, Managing Director, Archetype Cambodia; Pak Chanlino, Managing Partner & Attorney-At-Law, Vinaya Law Firm; Simon Griffiths, Managing Director, Urban Assets Solutions; Dr. Simon Vancliff, Vice Chairman of Real Estate & Construction Committee, EuroCham; Sok Siphana, Managing Partner, SokSiphana&associates; and Thida Ann, Director, CBRE Cambodia.
All shortlisted nominees were chosen following strict criteria set by an independent panel of judges, under the supervision of third-party BDO, one of the world’s largest networks of accounting and auditing firms. The supervisors from BDO were led by Lim Seng Siew, Partner; Sok Sochetra, Assistant Manager; Norng Kiman, Senior Associate; and Phan Darasy, Senior Associate.
The 2019 PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards was supported by the country’s most respected brands and organisations: platinum sponsor Kohler; gold sponsors Hitachi Elevators and Escalators, CBRE Cambodia, and Panasonic; silver sponsor Jotun; official airline partner Emirates; official portal partner RealEstate.com.kh; official magazine PropertyGuru Property Report; media partners BizKhmer, Construction & Property Magazine, Khmer Times, Master Media Cambodia, and Southeast Asia GLOBE; supporting associations British Chamber of Commerce Cambodia, and European Chamber of Commerce Cambodia; and official supervisor BDO.
