Sri Lanka finally joined the ranks of elite markets that host their very own PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards gala dinner, as Thursday night’s ceremony at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo presented 23 of the real estate industry’s highest honours to 13 outstanding companies.

The historic celebration saw Prime Group collect the Best Developer title at the end of the three-hour programme.

“This award is because of the amazing Prime Group team. Over the last five years we’ve launched more than 40 quality developments that always put the customer first,” said Premalal Brahmanage, the group’s chairman.

Capital TRUST Residencies (Pvt.) Ltd., which took home two awards, was named Best Boutique Developer, whilst Maga Engineering (Pvt) Limited went home with four trophies – the biggest haul of the evening.

Other multi-award winners include Home Lands Skyline Pvt Ltd, Indocean Developers (Pvt) Ltd – the company behind the iconic Altair project – and Blue Ocean Group of Companies, last year’s Best Developer (Sri Lanka) winner at the event held in Singapore.

PropertyGuru Group COO Jeremy Williams presented the first-ever Sri Lanka Real Estate Personality of the Year winner and industry veteran Pradeep Moraes, director at Indocean Developers, who described his special award as “a blessing.”

More than 350 attendees and government VIPs were in attendance, including Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka who delivered the opening keynote address. The ministry also accepted the Special Recognition in Public Facility for the implementation of the Beira Lake Intervention Area Development Plan in the capital.
