Winners List: PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2017

From Kuala Lumpur, to Penang and Iskandar, Malaysian real estate was celebrated Thursday evening (17 August 2017) at the fourth annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) gala dinner held at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, presented by Kohler.

Selangor-based Tropicana Corporation Berhad swept the ceremony, winning a total of eight awards including Best Condo Development (Malaysia), Best Green Development, Best Mixed Use Development, and the year’s highest honour for Best Developer (Malaysia).

Other top winners include UMLand, UMLand Seri Austin and Bon Estates Sdn Bhd, who won Best Boutique Developer. Twenty-one award categories were presented.

Aside from the competition categories, Glen Chan, CEO and managing director of Pacific Star Development Ltd, was honoured in a special segment as the 2017 Malaysia Real Estate Personality of the Year. He was chosen by the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine for elevating the standards of mixed-use and leisure developments in the country. Chan spearheaded the award-winning Puteri Cove Residences and Quayside project, which earned several awards in last year’s event.

The black-tie event welcomed nearly 300 guests and VIPs, including: Guest of Honour, Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Besar Seri Menanti, Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, chairman of PropertyGuru Malaysia; Steve Melhuish, co-founder and vice-chairman, PropertyGuru Group; Sheldon Fernandez, country manager, PropertyGuru.com.my; official supervisor BDO Malaysia’s chairman Dato’ Feizal Mustapha; and chairman of the judging panel Prem Kumar, executive director of Jones Land Wootton.

As a precursor to the awards night in Kuala Lumpur, the PropertyGuru Malaysia Real Estate Summit was held on 16 August at the InterContinental, where more than 100 senior industry executives, decision-makers and media, including more than 20 expert speakers, discussed Malaysian real estate issues, trends and outlook.
