Top real estate names advance to first virtual gala edition of PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards

Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao amply represented in eighth edition of the archipelago’s leading real estate awards programme

• More than 30 projects by around a dozen developers to compete in historic virtual gala event and awards ceremony, airing on AsiaPropertyAwards.com and partner channels
• Strong representation this year for developers based outside Manila as well as active participation from established names in property development
• Edgar Saavedra, chairman of Megawide Construction Corporation, to receive the Real Estate Personality of the Year award 

MANILA, Philippines – 15 October 2020

PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, the region’s most prestigious real estate awards programme, announced today the shortlist of nominees advancing to its annual gala event and awards ceremony in the Philippines.

Around a dozen real estate development companies, representing the finest of their property markets in the archipelago, have been named to the 8th Annual PropertyGuru Philippines Awards, which will be adopting a virtual format this year. The virtual gala event and awards presentation of the Philippines’ leading real estate honours programme will air on Friday, 13 November via AsiaPropertyAwards.com and partner channels, including YouTube and Facebook.

Established and emerging property developers alike have been shortlisted for this historic edition of the awards. SM Development Corporation (SMDC); Alveo Land, a subsidiary of Ayala Land; and Robinsons Land Corporation appear in the shortlist, where it is joined by such fast-growing development companies as Wee Community Developers, Inc. and Metroworx Properties, Inc.

Homegrown developers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are also well represented in this year’s shortlist. Damosa Land, Inc., along with its agro-industrial arm Anflo Industrial Estate Corporation, Grand Land Inc., and JEG Development Corp. are nominated, bringing visibility for developers in Cebu and Davao to the awards. Asiawide Land, a fast-growing real estate company based out of Bataan, is also one of the strongest contenders this year.

Together, these developers have launched and built some of the most exceptional, well-designed projects in the archipelago over the last year. More than 30 of these projects will compete for several widely coveted titles, including the trophies for Best Condo Development (Philippines) and Best Housing Development (Philippines), as well as accolades to be presented for the first time such as Best Breakthrough Developer and Best Lifestyle Developer.

Another highly anticipated award, the Real Estate Personality of the Year title, will be presented this year to Edgar Saavedra, Chairman of Megawide Construction Corporation. One of the Philippines’ leading infrastructure developers, Megawide is part of the consortium that built Terminal 2 of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA), which won Special Recognition for Public Facility at the 2018 PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards.

This year’s shortlist of nominees was the product of a judging process rigorously supervised by the team of BDO Roxas, Cruz, Tagle & Co., CPAs, led by Michael D. Roxas, Chairman and Managing Partner and International Liaison Partner, and Jarred D. Perena, Partner.
