On Monday, Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, and the UK’s Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Chris Philp, signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation.
In support of digital economic development, the two officials shared initiatives and policies, including strategic orientations, projects, and national programmes on the development of the digital economy and digital society of each nation.
They also discussed the practicability of strengthening coordination between management agencies in the digital area, as well as measures to develop and organise the implementation of initiatives under the UK-ASEAN Digital Innovation Partnership and the Asia-Pacific Digital Trade Network.
Philp proposed a programme that will support ASEAN in executing digital trade platforms, including standards and architectural frameworks for smart building.
Hùng also met with representatives from the trade association tech UK and the UK-ASEAN Business Council, in which he noted that digital enterprises of the two countries hold a lot of potential, if joined together.
