More than 300 guests from around the region – including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam – gathered to congratulate the winners and highly commended companies at the third annual South East Asia Property Awards 2013. The gala dinner and presentation event was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore and awards were given in 36 categories, recognising the region’s best developers, developments, real estate service providers, architecture and interior design firms.
“There are some truly exceptional properties and companies on the shortlist here tonight and we are pleased that the South East Asia Property Awards has become the benchmark by which to recognise them,” said Terry Blackburn, CEO, Ensign Media Ltd, organisers of the Awards.
This region has some of the world’s most innovative and interesting property developments, designed by architects, built by developers and marketed by agents whose reputations are known globally. Over 1,400 nominations were received this year and from those, some 300 entries were approved as eligible by BDO Advisory, which acts as an independent auditor for the awards.
Closely contested categories in each of the countries represented included Best Condominium and Best Villa Development, while regional awards such as Best Commercial Development (South East Asia) and Best Green Development (South East Asia) also drew an impressive number of high-quality entires, making the judges’ task a very challenging one.
“This year we have seen many more projects from all over the region,” said Alexander Karolik Shlaen, Chairman of the Judges. “Several of them are considered iconic in their respective countries, so it was not easy for us to agree on the final shortlist of winners. After many hours of evaluation, discussion, and consultation with the site visit teams, I am confident that our choices represent the best properties the South East Asia has to offer this year.”
