Sime Darby wins top honours at South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016

The conglomerate was named Best Developer and also collected a Special Recognition in Sustainable Development

The third annual South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016 on 11 August

What an evening!

The South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia), now rebranded as Asia Property Awards, presented by Hansgrohe and organised by PropertyGuru Group, were given away on Thursday evening, 11 August 2016, at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur. In the 300-plus member audience was Guest of Honour Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, chairman of PropertyGuru Malaysia, and VIP guest Yang Berhormat Datuk Chua Tee Yong, the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry.

Sime Darby Property collected the biggest of 19 awards – Best Developer (Malaysia) – plus a Special Recognition in Sustainable Development, sharing the latter honour with another multiple winner, UM Land.

It was also a great night for BRDB Developments, which earned a total of four trophies, including a Best of the Best award that qualifies the company – along with double winner and another Best of the Best awardee, Medini Iskandar Malaysia – to move on and represent the country at the South East Asia Property Awards grand finals in Singapore in November.

The judging panel led by Jones Lang Wotton’s Prem Kumar chose three winners to receive Special Recognition in CSR: LBS Bina Group, Mah Sing, and Matrix Concepts Holdings, which was a first for the Malaysia programme. Meanwhile, the editors of Property Report presented Best Boutique Developer winner Mitraland’s founder and group CEO Chuah Theong Yee with the 2016 Real Estate Personality of the Year award for his contributions to the industry.
