MCC Singapore’s Tan Zhiyong celebrated as Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year
The illustrious man behind several transport hubs and landmarks in Singapore accepts prestigious accolade during the 13th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) ceremony
Tan Zhiyong, the chief executive officer of MCC Singapore, today rose to the prestigious title of Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year during the presentation of the 13th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore).
The glamorous ceremony recognised an individual who has done so much for the city-state’s infrastructural and built environment over the past decades. Hari V Krishnan, CEO and managing director of PropertyGuru Group, took the stage at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore to present the golden statuette to the esteemed executive.
The editorial team of Property Report, the official magazine of the Awards, had chosen Tan to receive the title for his outsized contributions to the real estate, construction, and infrastructure sectors in Singapore.
“I am proud to be conferred the Real Estate Personality of the Year award and I would like to thank PropertyGuru for this accolade,” said Tan. “It is my privilege to be inducted in the hall of fame for this category.”
Tan has indeed left a mark not just on Singapore’s property sector but also its economy. Arriving in Singapore 33 years ago as part of MCC Singapore’s expansion plans, Tan propelled the construction company to the forefront of infrastructure development. Under Tan’s guidance, MCC Singapore led prestigious projects that include well-known landmarks in the city-state such as the Singapore Expo, Woodlands Checkpoint, and the MRT Circle Line.

Among the notable milestones in the CEO’s career, MCC Singapore played a pivotal role in the construction of Resorts World Sentosa and Universal Studios Singapore. Leveraging its expertise and competitive edge in the steel business, the company surmounted challenges to succeed in the completion of the mega-scale endeavors.
MCC Singapore continues to reinvent itself on Tan’s watch. Thirteen years ago, Tan initiated MCC Singapore’s foray into property development, diversifying the company’s portfolio and solidifying its reputation as a project management powerhouse. With projects like One Bernam, The Landmark, and Provence Residence, MCC Singapore is poised to deliver a remarkable array of private and executive condominiums, totalling over 7,000 units upon completion.
Tan has championed sustainability and community engagement, driving MCC Singapore to pursue Singapore’s highest green marks for its projects. Through eco-conscious initiatives and socially responsible endeavours, he has advocated well for the environment and community wellbeing.
For these and other achievements, Tan Zhiyong has rightfully earned the title of Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year. As he leads MCC Singapore further into new frontiers, Tan Zhiyong reaffirms his stature as a partner in the growth and progress of a nation.
