Lim Yew Soon named Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year
An honour for two decades of contributions to Singapore’s property sector
The Singapore Real Estate Personality of the Year honour has been awarded to Lim Yew Soon, managing director of EL Development Pte Ltd, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the country’s property sector.
Lim accepted the golden statuette during the 14th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) on 8 November at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.
“I’m greatly honoured and thrilled to receive this prestigious award—very thankful to PropertyGuru for conferring this award to me,” he said. “This award serves as a testament to the efforts and recognition that I have put in as a property developer for close to 20 years.”
Lim’s journey in the real estate industry began in his family’s construction business, Evan Lim & Co., where he identified an untapped opportunity to venture into property development.
“Initially, I had ventured into the property development business merely as a side business to diversify our family’s construction business,” he explained. “However, after the initial venture, I felt that there was good potential in the real estate development sector in Singapore and decided to focus on it.”
Leveraging his expertise in construction, Lim initially focused on boutique residential projects, starting with small-scale developments of fewer than 50 units. These small, meticulously designed developments captured the market’s attention and paved the way for him to pursue larger-scale ventures. He gradually participated in larger government land sale sites, which led to the creation of expansive condominium projects with over 500 units.
Over time, EL Development blossomed into a household name in Singapore’s real estate scene. The company’s portfolio includes iconic residential projects such as La Fiesta, Parc Centennial, and Symphony Suites, each of which showcases Lim’s commitment to quality, innovation, and community-focused design.
Beyond residential developments, Lim has eased EL Development into industrial, commercial, and mixed-use projects, further solidifying the firm’s versatility and excellence. Notable developments include Food Vision @ Mandai, a freehold B2 industrial property, and Eldix, a state-of-the-art industrial space.
In a bold diversification move, Lim also led the company into the hospitality sector, culminating in the successful completion of Pullman Singapore Hill Street, EL Development’s inaugural hotel project. The property has garnered critical acclaim for its cutting-edge design and elevated guest experience, marking yet another milestone in the company’s journey.
This prestigious recognition celebrates Lim’s visionary leadership, innovative spirit, and dedication to enhancing Singapore’s urban setting. His contributions have not only defined the skyline but also set new benchmarks for quality and sustainability in real estate development.
