Thailand’s retail queen Supaluck Umpujh to be named 2017 Real Estate Personality
The Mall Group’s trailblazing chairwoman has been named the 2017 Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year.
Supaluck’s The Mall Group is the developer behind six world-class shopping centres in Thailand, namely The Siam Paragon, The Emporium, The EmQuartier, The Emsphere, BLÚPORT, BLÚ Pearl, and Bangkok Mall.
“This award means our dedication and determination, to make our visions a reality, has not only paid off, but is also recognised,” said Supaluck in a statement.
“It is also the encouragement we needed to continue to contribute to our nation the best way we know how, by leading the retail industry to a future that delights everyone who enters our doors.”
Chosen by the editorial team of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine, the Thailand Real Estate Personality of the Year is one of the top special awards that will be presented during the twelfth anniversary gala dinner of the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards on 15 September at the Plaza Athenee Bangkok (a Royal Meridien hotel).
“Supaluck Umpujh has consistently demonstrated over an illustrious career, which has spanned more than three decades. Working alongside her father and six siblings, our 2017 Personality became the driving force behind the family firm over the following 20 years, taking the reins in 2005. The business has produced iconic projects have transcended their initial purpose and are perceived to be tourist destinations in their own right,” the editors of Property Report said.
“With millions of overseas tourists flocking here to shop every year, Bangkok is now considered a regional shopping mecca on par with Hong Kong and Singapore. It’s fair to say that there aren’t many individuals who have shaped the city’s retail sphere in the way Supaluck has done.”
