Ahead of the online gala event, the organisers held a virtual CEO roundtable as an opportunity for C-suite level executives and thought leaders to come together and tackle subjects of high topical interest during the Covid-19 era, including prospects of the Indonesian property market and important lessons from markets that are on the road to recovery.

The roundtable shared useful takeaways for peers in the real estate industry. Panel speakers included Budiarsa Sastrawinata, managing director of award-winning Ciptura Group and head of the Permanent Committee for Investment Development & Foreign Relations at KADIN; Amran Nukman, SekJen DPP at Real Estate Indonesia (REI); Alexander H. Kusuma, CEO at Agung Sedayu Group, a former Best Developer (Indonesia) winner; and Micheal Kang, CEO at SwanCity, multiple design winner at last year’s PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards. The discussion was moderated by Marine Novita, country manager of Rumah.com, the official property portal of the Awards, and anchored by Doddy A. Tjahjadi, managing director at PTI Architects, and chairperson of PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards.

The panel was joined by Winston Lee, director of special projects at PropertyGuru Group, and Adam Quek, general manager of Kitchen & Bath Group, Kohler Indonesia. Quek joined on behalf of the global brand to speak on current kitchen and bathroom design trends in Indonesia, as well as its continued partnership with the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series.

Positive trends

Speakers expressed confidence in the recovery of the Indonesian property sector, underpinned by positive consumer sentiment and behaviour trends analysed by Rumah.com.

More than 4 in 5 property seekers in Indonesia still intend to buy a property in the future, according to Rumah.com’s Consumer Sentiment Survey and Property Sentiment Index H1 2021. Of these, more than half intend to purchase within the next two years.

More consumers are going online to research property purchases in Indonesia, the study further found. The search for properties during the pandemic has benefited from a preponderance of good information sources, dominated by social media and property portals, led by Rumah.com.

Jakarta, Tangerang and Bogor, in that order, ranked as the top areas for prospective home buyers, with landed property remaining the top option. Property seekers also looked to purchase new properties more than resale and sub-sale properties.

Informed property search

For its first six years, the PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards programme has helped inform the search for quality Indonesian real estate based on a well-curated shortlist of nominees as determined by an independent panel of experts. Setting the “Gold Standard” in real estate development and design excellence, the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards have helped determine the most high-calibre properties across various pricing segments and niche categories in various locations throughout the islands.

The 7th PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards programme will stream as a virtual gala event and presentation ceremony on Thursday, 14 October 2021 on AsiaPropertyAwards.com/tv-podcast and the official channels on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube.
