All the things you missed on the kingdom’s biggest night for real estate
Another year has passed—the 14th to be exact—for the annual PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards: ossifying its status as the longest-running real estate honours in the kingdom.
The 9 August ceremonies at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok celebrated longevity and precocity alike as developers, both established and emerging, took the stage for prizes in 64 categories, up from 52 last year. Siamese Asset Co., Ltd. earned its first Best Developer prize ever—a fitting close to a decade for a firm that has only been in the development business since 2010.
“We hope that by this award it will add to our energy to move faster and stronger in the property business,” said Siamese Asset managing director Kajohnsit Singsunsern while accepting the night’s highest honour.
Thai labour minister Mom Ratchawongse Chatu Mongol Sonakul delivered the night’s keynote speech, a morale-boosting prelude to a multicourse gala dinner that included steamed cod fillet with leek fondue, lemongrass emulsion and vegetable pearls. “I urge developers to continue to improve the working conditions of every real estate professional in Thailand where every person feels safe, secure, well-trained, and educated about their rights,” the minister told a packed audience of 600.
As the starter courses of smoked duck roll and Mediterranean rock fish soup were being cleared away, the awarding ceremonies officially kicked off with prizes in architectural and interior design. Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited (MQDC) claimed Best Ultra Luxury Condo Architectural Design and Best Luxury Condo Architectural Design for its Bangkok projects Whizdom Asoke-Sukhumvit and Mulberry Grove The Forestias, respectively.
Television host Piyawat ‘PK’ Kempetch and emcee Supapij Xoomsai Na Ayudhya kept ceremonies moving smoothly as the night progressed into the development awards. Notable winners included Grand Unity Development Co., Ltd. for their luxury Bangkok condo ANIL Sathorn 12 and Asset Five Group Public Company Limited for the housing project Vana Residence Rama9 – Srinakarin.
Representatives of smart solutions company WiseSight were on hand to present special honours for digital performance to a handful of developers including AP (Thailand) Public Company Limited and D’Well Grand Asset Co., Ltd. Former Best Developer winner MQDC took the stage for another new prize, the Right to Play for Community Projects Award.
Before half past 10, awardees still assembled at the hotel’s Crystal Ballroom scaled the bleachers for the annual class picture. Cheers resounded above the din of the confetti burst and PK’s rousing congratulations to the winners—a closer as sweet as the dessert of apricot layered with pistachio biscuit, white chocolate cardamom, and cocoa crumble with sorbet.
