5th Annual PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards follows banner year for Khmer condo development

Asia’s leading real estate awards programme feels pulse of Cambodian sector with key dates for 2020 edition

Asia’s most respected real estate honours renewed its call for the most award-worthy development firms and projects in Cambodia with the announcement of the timeline for the 2020 PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards, presented by Hitachi Elevators and Escalators.

The fifth edition of Cambodia’s most prestigious real estate awards programme will be staged in a black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony on Friday, 5 June 2020 at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra ballroom. Organised by Asia’s leading property technology company, PropertyGuru will be accepting nominations from the general public until Friday, 27 March.

The region’s senior industry figures and experts are expected to train their attention on the country once more following its successful placing at the 14th Annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final. Urban Hub (Cambodia) Co., Ltd collected the highly coveted laurel of Best Condo Development in Asia at the ceremony held in Bangkok in November. One of the big winners at the 2019 PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards, Urban Hub (Cambodia) Co., Ltd bested seven of the biggest condo developers in Asia for its famed Urban Village project.

Representatives of Urban Hub (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, led by their Executive Director Catherine Chan, will be joining a special media briefing for the 2020 Awards on 30 January at the Khéma La Poste restaurant in Phnom Penh. She will be joined at the media event by H.E. Dr. Chhann Sorphal, Director-General of Construction at the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, which won the Special Recognition for Digital Innovation for the Cambodia Construction App in 2019.

Jules Kay, Director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, will also be in attendance alongside Cambodia awards chairperson Sorn Seap, Chief Executive Officer of Key Real Estate Co Ltd. Sorn Seap returns to lead the panel of reputable property analysts and expert industry leaders pick out the best of the best in Cambodian real estate.

According to Sorn Seap: “The PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards remains the best marketing campaign of its kind, providing the best opportunity for any project in Cambodia to promote their names to local and international buyers.”

Key dates for the 2020 edition are: 

  • 16 December 2020 – Nominations and Entries Open
  • 1 May 2020 – Nominations Close
  • 8 May 2020 – Entries Close
  • 18-29 May 2020 – Site Inspections
  • 1 June 2020 – Final Judging
  • 10 July 2020 – Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Phnom Penh
  • 20 November 2020 – Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand

Top winners from Cambodia will again be eligible to compete for the “Best in Asia” honours at the 15th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final to be hosted in Bangkok, Thailand in November, which will be preceded by the exclusive Road to Gold Tour of select award-winning properties, and the green technology and sustainable development-themed PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit, a global conference for industry game-changers.

Last year’s edition of the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards welcomed 370 guests, the biggest gala dinner and ceremony hosted in Cambodia by PropertyGuru to date. It awarded a total of 39 trophies and 27 Highly Commended citations to a wide range of Khmer companies and projects.

The inaugural edition of the Awards in Phnom Penh, held in early 2016, was attended by 327 guests and saw 15 developers accept 13 awards.
