This city is pioneering smart innovations in Indonesia
Around 30 local governments in Indonesia have signed a partnership to adopt smart city applications and initiatives patterned after those in the city of Tangerang, reported Merdeka.com.
Tangerang, a city in the province of Banten on the western fringes of Jakarta, had developed the Smart City Partnership in 2016 for later propagation in other regions across Indonesia.
“Our application is ready to be used and utilised by other regional governments,” Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah said in Bahasa.
Tangerang has developed 30 smart city innovations and applications to date, such as SIKDA, LAKSA, e-Gov, and e-Office. Apps pertaining to basic material prices, job vacancies, school movements, tourist locations, licencing, and bus schedulesare also available to denizens of the city.
Downloadable through the Play Store and App Store, the apps and related websites have been integrated into one portal, the Tangerang LIVE application. Such integration has changed the work system and boosted efficiencies in the bureaucracy, Wismansyah said.
In addition to the portal, Tangerang has a dedicated information technology system service center, dubbed the Tangerang LIVE Room.
Wismansyah hopes Tangerang’s smart city practices can help other regions streamline public services. Holding up Tangerang’s innovation as an example, the “bureaucratic process becomes easy,” he added.
The City of Tangerang is part of the 100 Smart City Movement by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information.
