Nestled along the bustling streets of central Singapore, 138 \u2013 142 Jalan Besar is a row of three conservation shophouses that have recently undergone a remarkable transformation. These conservation shophouses house commercial shops on their first level and residential units on their second and third levels.<\/p>\n

The three conservation shophouses have gone through extensive restoration works. Their fa\u00e7ades have been especially meticulously restored, capturing the essence of a bygone era while embracing a contemporary aesthetic.<\/p>\n

The second and third levels have been converted into purpose-built co-living spaces with a total of 16 spacious rooms spread across the three conservation shophouses. The co-living spaces were carefully designed to retain the unique characteristics of the conservation shophouses. This was done to strike the perfect balance between heritage preservation and contemporary comforts.<\/p>\n

The newly transformed conservation shophouses follow open-plan layouts, optimising the utilisation of the space. The spacious living areas and communal spaces encourage interactions and the exchange of ideas among residents and allow for relaxation and entertainment. Meanwhile, the bedrooms ensure total privacy between residents. All rooms are designed with the comfort and convenience of residents in mind.<\/p>\n

These conservation shophouses attest to Singapore\u2019s commitment to preserving its architectural legacy while embracing the demands of modern living. With their rejuvenated appearance, these remarkable structures symbolise timeless beauty and seamlessly blend the old and new with a modern streetscape.<\/p>\n

This project was named Winner, Best Heritage Co-Living Space and Best Co-Living Operator at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) 2022.<\/a><\/p>\n
