<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">revealed the launch of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in the country, which will\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">enable<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">average investors to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">profit from property investing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and to reap the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">benefits of investing in publicly traded securities on SCE<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, reported\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/island.lk\/introducing-reits-in-sri-lanka-an-opportunity-to-benefit-from-real-estate-investment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span presented by the SEC using rules <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">with reference to section 53 and 13 of the SEC Act that was established last 31 July.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0These rules will oversee the overall REITs process in Sri Lanka.<\/span><span also devised guidelines for the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">listing of REITs units.<\/span><span international investors reignite Sri Lanka\u2019s property sector<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With the launching of REITs, Sri Lanka\u2019s economy is expected to benefit as it will\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">pave way for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">liquidity through listings,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">increased tax revenues,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">creation of new\u00a0jobs,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">econom<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0growth, as well as direc<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">t investments\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">from foreigners\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">into the country.<\/span><span and stronger corporate governance is necessary for<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> REITs, the regulatory bodies and the investor community will be obliged to evaluate the quality <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and feasibility of each project.<\/span><span
