On the 4<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0of September,<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>premier names of the Khmer real estate industry, along with select VIPs and press<\/span>\u00a0all gathered at the\u00a0Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra in Phnom Penh\u00a0<\/span>for\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>5th annual Cambodia Property Awards.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The prestigious awards\u00a0<\/span>programme has yet again<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>returned\u00a0for another year to\u00a0<\/span>applaud the strength of\u00a0<\/span>the local real estate sector\u00a0<\/span>as they deal with\u00a0<\/span>these unprecedented times<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>This much-needed break from reality<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0where everyone got to dress up in their finest ensembles<\/span>, as well as dine, drink and<\/span> converse with their peers, offered a brief snapshot to what it was like before the dawn of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though health and safety precautions were imposed\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>prioritised<\/span>\u00a0during the preparations and\u00a0<\/span>the gala dinner,\u00a0<\/span>the thrill and excitement of the night\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>festivities\u00a0<\/span>lingered throughout the grand ballroom, without any hints of pandemic-<\/span>induced\u00a0<\/span>anxiety.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost a dozen companies<\/span>\u00a0—<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>represent<\/span>ing<\/span> premier development companies and projects<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>across the country<\/span>\u00a0—<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>competed<\/span>\u00a0to take home\u00a030 trophies and nearly 25 Highly Commended distinctions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the contenders,\u00a0<\/span>Meridian International Holding (Cambodia) Ltd.\u00a0<\/span>nabbed the\u00a0<\/span>Best Developer title, which was the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>highest accolade of the night,<\/span> along with seven other trophies and <\/span>five Highly Commended awards.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hok Kang, the\u00a0founder of\u00a0<\/span>Urbanland<\/span>\u00a0Asia Investment Co., Ltd and HKA & Partners,\u00a0was chosen by the editors of the\u00a0<\/span>PropertyGuru<\/span> Property Report to receive the highly coveted Real Estate Personality of the Year title. As the only accolade not selected by the judges, we wanted to commend him for his drive to always challenge the boundaries of architecture and urban design by producing outstanding developments that aim to improve Khmer quality of living.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

F<\/span>or this year\u2019s gala<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Cham\u00a0<\/span>Nou<\/span>\u00a0Jimmy<\/span>\u00a0was invited once again to serve as the master of ceremonies<\/span>, alongside his other half\u00a0Jimmy Meng.\u00a0<\/span>Their<\/span>\u00a0magnetic personalities and\u00a0<\/span>professionalism<\/span>\u00a0kept the<\/span>\u00a0audience<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>enraptured\u00a0<\/span>throughout the\u00a0<\/span>entire\u00a0<\/span>programme<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile<\/span>, video presentations from\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>platinum sponsor\u00a0Hitachi Elevators and Escalators,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>gold sponsor CBRE Cambodia,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the silver sponsor Jotun Cambodia<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>official charity partner Right\u00a0<\/span>To<\/span>\u00a0Play and\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span> official ESG partner Baan Dek Foundation in between segments<\/span>\u00a0kept the audience informed and inspired.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a way to end the ceremony in true <\/span>PropertyGuru<\/span>\u00a0Asia Property Awards fashion,\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>winners of the 5<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>PropertyGuru<\/span>\u00a0Cambodia Property Awards\u00a0<\/span>were all invited to go on stage to take the annual group photo<\/span>, complete with\u00a0<\/span>confetti\u00a0<\/span>bursting at<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the seams, while<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>cheers res<\/span>ounded <\/span>from the winners — signifying a turning point for the Khmer real estate industry, filled with hope, confidence and optimism in the wake of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
