Since\u00a0<\/span>Myanmar went through<\/span>\u00a0a series of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>political<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>economic\u00a0<\/span>and administrative\u00a0<\/span>reform<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0in 2016,\u00a0<\/span>a movement to improve the local economy has\u00a0<\/span>been\u00a0<\/span>a crucial matter for the country<\/span>, according to the study published by\u00a0<\/span>May Lwin\u00a0and Kriengsak Panuwatwanich titled\u00a0<\/span>Current Situation and Development of Green Building Rating System in Myanmar.<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n

The real estate industry<\/span>\u00a0has <\/span>been<\/span> the economy’s primary driving force <\/span>even before the reformation<\/span>, particularly because of foreign and d<\/span>omestic investments, as well as the job opportunities\u00a0<\/span>the sector<\/span>\u00a0provides<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet despite all\u00a0<\/span>of the sector\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>contributions to the country,<\/span>\u00a0it<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>comes with its own drawbacks. For instance, <\/span>construction consumes a lot of electricity, which takes up most of the energy output of the entire country.<\/span> Moreover, waste and pollution are unavoidable\u00a0<\/span>in the process to achieve economic growth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The only way to reap all the benefits without\u00a0<\/span>having to face\u00a0<\/span>these\u00a0<\/span>underlying consequences is to embrace green building development<\/span>s, which\u00a0<\/span>the Green Building Committee\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>the Building Engineering <\/span>Institute<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>has been promoting\u00a0<\/span>for a few years now.\u00a0<\/span>They have even<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>created a guideline for the construction industry to ensure that they meet \u201cthe green building criteria and the basic requirements for energy-efficient building design\u00a0<\/span>in the country<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though green developments\u00a0<\/span>are<\/span>\u00a0still at the initial stage<\/span>\u00a0in Myanmar<\/span>, we are seeing\u00a0<\/span>more\u00a0<\/span>developers who have taken\u00a0<\/span>Mother Nature<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>into\u00a0<\/span>consideration<\/span>, hoping that others will follow suit.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
