The mandate also ordered that new projects taller than 250 metres will also be \u2018strictly limited\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>At present, China has the highest number of skyscrapers in the globe, with over 2,177 towers standing at no less than 150 metres and 65 towers rising at 300 metres or more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asiapropertyawards.com\/en\/green-walls-rise-with-asias-skyscrapers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>More: Green walls rise with Asia\u2019s skyscrapers<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the new directive, the nation plans to implement the \u201cnew-era architectural principles,\u201d which aims to transform the appearance of its cities with \u201cpractical, economical, ecological and beautiful\u201d urban structures.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry said that they will forbid all copycat designs and \u201chuge, foreign-worshipping and wacky\u201d developments. They have also challenged regional officials to design buildings that can \u201crepresent Chinese characteristics\u201d and \u201cstrengthen cultural confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In case a city wants to construct supertall towers, they must pass a stringent examination given by authorities specialising in energy-saving solutions, as well as fire prevention and earthquake resistant structures, among
