T<\/span>he\u00a0<\/span>Condominium<\/span>\u00a0Developers Association of Sri Lanka (CDASL)\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>requested\u00a0<\/span>President Gotabaya Rajapaksa t<\/span>o allow their firms to\u00a0<\/span>resume operations<\/span> of construction projects as soon as possible<\/span>, which\u00a0<\/span>have been\u00a0<\/span>ordered\u00a0<\/span>to close\u00a0<\/span>to help curb the virus<\/span>, reported\u00a0<\/span>EconomyNext<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The association have also\u00a0<\/span>asked for<\/span> development firms to be eligible for credit relief, as well as to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>clarify\u00a0<\/span>the import controls that were proposed<\/span>\u00a0since the central bank\u00a0<\/span>introduced liquidity measures to de-stabilise the local currency.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is some ambiguity on imports of building materials and equipment since the authorities have made statements regarding imports being restricted to essential items only.\u00a0A clarification on this would be helpful to avoid further disruption in project supply chains,\u201d said CDASL.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the country\u2019s politicians, all imports will be banned, except for fuel and medicine. They have also advised the public to grow horse gram or <\/span>kollu, grains and vegetables since there are shortages in generated forex and printed money.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The association has also<\/span> sought assistance for para tariffs on imported inputs and to alleviate cash flow pressures on contractors and developers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, they suggested allowing <\/span>foreigners based in the country to purchase apartments using their domestic revenues<\/span> without needing to send their money from overseas, otherwise <\/span>enable them to<\/span>\u00a0get a port<\/span>ion of their f<\/span>unds from local banks.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
