\nF<\/span>earing that the\u00a0<\/span>region could be the next\u00a0<\/span>epicentre<\/span>\u00a0of the pandemic<\/span>,<\/span> Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha joined the <\/span>leaders of the\u00a0<\/span>ASEAN,<\/span>\u00a0plus<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>its three close allies\u00a0<\/span>South Korea, Japan and China<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in a rare summit <\/span>teleconference<\/span>\u00a0to create a more\u00a0<\/span>coordinated\u00a0<\/span>regional approach<\/span> to deal with the outbreak.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the summit,\u00a0<\/span>Gen. Prayut proposed t<\/span>o set up the<\/span>\u00a0ASEAN Response Fund (ARF)<\/span>\u00a0as part of a six-point agenda to curb the virus, reported\u00a0<\/span>Bangkok Post<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The said fund will be used<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for COVID-19 vaccine research, and for medicine and equipment for the medical\u00a0frontliners<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other initiatives mentioned were the<\/span>\u00a0swift response to emergency cases, the<\/span>\u00a0reinforcement of public health measures,\u00a0<\/span>the action against false and distorted information<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and the\u00a0<\/span>introduction of relief measures\u00a0<\/span>to ease the disruption caused by the virus on the region\u2019s economy<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, even before the summit,\u00a0<\/span>the local government\u00a0<\/span>has already\u00a0<\/span>introduced<\/span>\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>series of\u00a0<\/span>initiatives<\/span> to combat the virus, starting with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>financial relief\u00a0for<\/span>\u00a0small- and medium-sized businesses<\/span>, as well as for temporary and informal workers<\/span>\u00a0affected by the outbreak.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities<\/span>\u00a0have also banned all public gatherings,<\/span>\u00a0recommended adults aged over 70 and children aged under five to stay home,<\/span>\u00a0imposed\u00a0<\/span>a strict curfew,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>suspended international flights<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>assured the public that essential businesses will remain open\u00a0<\/span>during this time<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though Thailand has seen a consistent decline in the number of cases, the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin advised people “not to lower your guard” as the confirmed cases will soon reach the 3,000 mark, with 2,792 patients under treatment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>real estate industry\u00a0<\/span>is among those hit hard by the pandemic, yet we have witnessed several PropertyGuru Thailand<\/span>\u00a0Property Award<\/span>s winners<\/span> that have stepped up to help the nation curb the virus.<\/span><\/p>\n

The property development firm was\u00a0<\/span>a big contender<\/span>\u00a0at the 14<\/span>th<\/span> PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards, taking home 17 trophies <\/span>before<\/span>\u00a0competing at the\u00a014<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>PropertyGuru<\/span>\u00a0Asia Property Awards Grand Final<\/span>\u00a0a few months later where they nabbed the trophy for\u00a0Best Housing Landscape Architectural Design (Asia).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
