The Cambodian tourism industry is on the road to receiving international recognition<\/span><\/p>\n

Tourism has become one of Cambodia\u2019s main pillars for supporting the economy. According to <\/span>English News<\/span><\/a>, the country\u2019s Ministry of Tourism declared the sector earned a total gross revenue of KHR5.7 billion (USD1.41 billion) last year. Thanks to this revenue, the sector was able to contribute 3.6 percent to the country\u2019s gross domestic product.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to its culture and the world heritage sites such as the Angkor archeological park, Preah Vihear Temple, and Sambor Prei Kuk archeological site, Cambodia garnered a total of 2.28 million international tourists last year, increasing by 1,058 percent in comparison to 2021. With its growing economy, the country is looking to encourage more tourists to visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because the sector remains a main support, Prime Minister Hun Sen focused all the attention of stakeholders onto it to help boost the sector. This way, with all the tourists coming, the nation and the people would be receiving more income, as discussed by <\/span>Khmer Times<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Prime Minister is aiming to continue appealing to the public through the nation\u2019s unique products and services alongside good hospitality, security, good hygiene, cleanliness, and the natural beauty of forests and wildlife. With these, the nation is expected to bring in an estimated four million foreign tourists as well as 15 million local tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asia News Network<\/span><\/a> reported the government to be working on the \u201cVisit Cambodia Year 2023\u201d campaign to ensure its success and showcase the kingdom\u2019s tourism potential. Some of the events highlighted in this campaign to call attention are the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in May and the ASEAN Para Games in June.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter chairman Thourn Sinan showed his confidence in this campaign\u2019s implementation, saying that it would bring in 70 percent of the target international tourists, which is still more than last year\u2019s record.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
