China is going full force on digitalisation, which, in turn, is significantly increasing the demand for data computing, processing, and storage, noted <\/span>Asia Times<\/span><\/a>. Furthermore, the country\u2019s \u201cEast Data West Computation Project\u201d is a key contributor to the goal of \u201cDigital China.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The project’s goals increasing China’s total computer power, helping with green energy objectives, and accelerating development in the underdeveloped western region of the country. It will also likely contribute to the Chinese military\u2019s vision to build a high-tech force.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are also other areas in China emerging as major contributors to China\u2019s digital economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Local authorities from Jiangxi noted that the province\u2019s digital economy last year was 19.5 percent YoY growth, reaching nearly CNY1 trillion (USD154 billion), according to <\/span>Xinhua<\/span><\/a>. This accounted for 35 percent of the province\u2019s GDP last year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference, held on 19 July, also saw the province\u2019s first batch of digital technology application scenarios, which has a CNY8.2 billion (USD1.2 billion) investment, and a list of 200 digital products, solutions, and technologies geared towards the manufacturing, government services, and new smart cities sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 23 to 24 July, Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, will host the fifth Digital China Summit, reported <\/span>China Daily<\/span><\/a>. Its goal is to demonstrate the most recent advancements in digital construction, encourage dialogue between experts and businesses about the ideas and practices of the digital economy, and strengthen global collaboration in the creation of a powerful digital nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The added value of Fujian’s economy reached CNY2.3 trillion (USD340 billion) in 2021, a 15 percent growth from a year earlier, and 47 percent of its GDP came from the digital economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

A number of measures have been taken to give the digital economy a bigger role in driving Fujian’s high-quality development such as improving digital infrastructure, accelerating cutting-edge technology research and development, cultivating industrial clusters, and improving digital laws and regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n
