The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has revised its forecast for foreign arrivals this year, after the aim of one million visitors per month was met sooner than projected, according to the <\/span>Bangkok Post<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 12 May, the monthly estimate for June bookings crossed one million for the first time in two years, owing to the termination of mandatory RT-PCR testing on 1 May.<\/span><\/p>\n

TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn mentioned that the organisation previously predicted that this year, Thailand would have 1 million visitors per month from October to December. The latest results, however, have prompted the agency to project a consistent monthly level of approximately 1 million from June until the end of the year. This would bring the total number of foreign visitors this year to at least 8 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, easing restrictions have boosted the tourism in places such as Koh Samui and Phuket. <\/span>The Nation Thailand<\/span><\/a> reported that since Thailand reopened its borders to foreign travellers on 1 May, up to 10,000 tourists visited the country each day.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 13 to 16 May, more than 150,000 tourists had visited Phuket, which is expected to generate THB1.8 billion (USD52.7 million) in revenue. Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said that occupancy rate in the province is projected to increase approximately 60 to 80 percent, especially in attractions such as Patong Beach and Phuket Town.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanakorn also stated that many tourists traveled to Samui Island recently to attend the Full Moon Party, resulting in a positive sentiment for tourism-related companies on Samui and Pha Ngan islands. This well-known event will be repeated on 14 June.<\/span><\/p>\n

From January through 22 May, there were 1,016,103 tourist arrivals in Thailand, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The number of international tourists climbed by 2,368 percent in Q1 2022 compared to the same period last year, while tourism revenue increased by 1,424 percent, as reported by <\/span>Pattaya Mail<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
