Busan, the maritime capital of Northeast Asia, has a certain charm that makes it an asset to the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the <\/span>Busan Convention Bureau<\/span><\/a>, Busan is one of the few maritime \u201cBleisure Cities\u201d in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Busan was dubbed the country’s first international tourism city when the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) chose an “International Tourism City in Korea” in 2020. After going viral, the city was officially acknowledged as the one and only MICE destination in South Korea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The city will also be hosting several international events this year, raising its global status as a maritime and MICE city.<\/span><\/p>\n

The FIATA World Congress 2022 or the so-called \u201cLogistics Olympics\u201d will be held on 11 September, and for six days, 2,000 industry leaders will discuss changes and innovations in the global logistics industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other event that will be happening in Busan this year is the 7th International Marine Debris Conference (7IMDC). It is the first time that the conference will be held outside the United States since 1984.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Busan will be the home to two major art events that will kick off in May and September. Art Busan and Busan Biennale are projected to draw art lovers from home and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n

Busan Biennale 2022 will be held at four venues, including Choryang-dong, a neighborhood located on the southern edge of central Busan, and Pier 1 of the Busan Harbor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Busan Biennale\u2019s artistic director told <\/span>The Korean Herald<\/span><\/a>, \u201cI definitely feel that South Korea has become an emerging country for art globally. Many artists say they want to visit the country as well as Busan. We have high expectations for the biennale as the pandemic situation seems to be stabilizing and it also coincides with Frieze Seoul in early September.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
