The <\/span>DC Byte <\/span>Q4 2021 Data Center Report<\/span><\/i><\/a>, published in partnership with Knight Frank, showed that the Asia Pacific region saw a 24 percent growth in the data centre market last year. By Q4, there was an increase of 185MW and 1.5GW by the end of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The report also reveals that the Asia Pacific region has surpassed EMEA, which had a 500MW growth in Q4, which brought its total aggregate supply to 1.6GW for the year \u2013 a 19 percent increase overall.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEMEA and APAC continue to jostle for supremacy,\u201d says Ed Galvin, founder and CEO at DC Byte.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“2021 was the first year following the surge in demand for data centre space and it\u2019s great to see the industry continuing to provide new capacity in the face of increasing challenges around power availability and land pricing,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Darren Mansfield, Data Centres Research Lead at Knight Frank, also shared, \u201cThe data centre landscape continues to develop at pace, underpinned by both strategic deployment of hyperscale operations and a sustained drive towards third-party colocation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, Tokyo’s and Shanghai’s gigawatt markets added between 300MW to 400MW each, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After Chinese authorities announced the establishment of four data centre mega clusters in the northern and western parts of the country, 10 more were planned to be constructed as part of the broader \u201cEastern Data and Western Computing\u201d strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Singapore, under a new pilot programme, will make 60MW of capacity available to developments of between 10MW to 30MW each.<\/span><\/p>\n

Insights from <\/span>Arizton<\/span><\/a> reveal that the Asia Pacific region\u2019s data centre generator market size is expected to reach USD2.3 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 7.14 percent. It will also see huge investments from hyperscale operators within the next 5 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Asia Pacific data centre generator market, hyperscale data centre investments produce millions of dollars, with the establishment of a sustainable data centre environment with minimal carbon emissions being a crucial element.<\/span><\/p>\n
