From the previous forecast of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City now hopes to establish a digital administration and become a smart city in 2022, according to <\/span>OpenGov Asia<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

To do this, Ho Chi Minh’s officials have identified criteria that will help the city succeed. Among these include administering the city in the new normal, establishing and integrating all government databases, and discovering driving forces for future growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The city will accelerate digital transformation at governmental organizations and promote e-government to improve the efficiency and quality of public services, according to the Department of Information and Communications Director, Lam Dinh Thang.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ho Chi Minh City will create at least two technological innovation centres from now until 2025 to assist enterprises in digitising their operations \u2014 strengthening supply chains, transferring technologies and innovations, researching digital products, raising awareness of digital transformation, and promoting an innovative ecosystem for start-ups. <\/span>They will also collaborate with well-known global partners on digitisation and finance, as well as assess the efficacy of digital products and provide support for the development of digital solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

A project is also underway regarding the development of a population database and applications for e-identification and e-authentication.<\/span><\/p>\n

VietnamPlus<\/span><\/a> reported that the first electric bus line will start operating in Ho Chi Minh on 9 March. There will be a 20-minute gap between services on the D4 route connecting Vinhomes Grand Park and Sai Gon Bus Station. It will run through districts with high-tech plants, new residential clusters, and the administrative center of Thu Duc City, with large roads but few bus routes.<\/span><\/p>\n

VinBus Ecology Transport Services Limited Liability Company (VinBus) has suggested a five-route trial run of electric buses in the southern metropolis. It previously debuted Vietnam’s first smart electric bus fleet in Hanoi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from promoting information technology applications and building digital governments, Ho Chi Minh City will execute comprehensive digital transformation, create a digital economy, and construct a digital society by 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n
