Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that the country aims to welcome 1.6 million international visitors this year during his presidential address on 3 February.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 1,702,887 arrivals in 2019, it took a massive plunge in 2020 with 555,494 visitors when the global pandemic struck.<\/span><\/p>\n

The country, however, reached its 2021 target when the arrival of Romanian national Constantin Stelian Emil on 27 December brought the total number of visitors to 1,321,932.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to <\/span>Raajje<\/span><\/a>, despite being the leading source market for Maldives tourism by the end of 2021, India is now ranked third in the top ten markets for the Golden Jubilee of Tourism year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, Russia has brought the most visitors to the Maldives, with 28,468 people arriving from the country between 1 January and 9 February. The country accounts for 16.6 percent of all new arrivals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The United Kingdom comes second, having contributed 18,348 visitors and a 10.7 percent share.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With 13,947 arrivals, India comes in third with an 8.1 percent contribution.<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been becoming more ideal to travel to Maldives for many reasons. The <\/span>Deccan Herald<\/span><\/a> shared that for foreign travel, the Maldives government has relaxed travel restrictions at all international airports in the country. Instead of the 72-hour requirement, visitors must have a negative RT-PCR test done within 96 hours of departure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Tourism also launched \u201cI\u2019m Vaccinated,\u201d a campaign that aims to make Maldives\u2019 the world\u2019s first fully vaccinated tourism sector in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is no better place to combine relaxation with adventure than the Maldives. As its most valuable asset, the resort islands offer luxurious accommodation in waterfront villas, beach villas, and lagoon side bungalows. The majority of the island resorts offer a wide range of amenities, including spas, treatment rooms, and cruises.<\/span><\/p>\n
