At the Lao National Convention Center,\u00a0the country announced it will reopen for tourism on 1 January 2022, reported\u00a0<\/span>The Laotian Times<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism\u00a0(MICT),\u00a0the reopening will be implemented in three phases.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first phase (1 January to 30 March 2022)\u00a0will allow tourists from an initial list of countries including China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand,\u00a0Singapore, and more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tourists are required to be fully vaccinated no less than 14 days prior to arrival. Other conditions include a health insurance policy with coverage of no less than USD50,000, as well as a negative RT-PCR test taken within the last 72 hours.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the reopening scheme, tourists will be\u00a0authorised\u00a0to travel within two zones, namely\u00a0<\/span>Green Travel Zones<\/span><\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Green Travel Trails<\/span><\/i>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green travel zones opened for visiting during Phase 1 are Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang Province, and Vang Vieng District in Vientiane Province.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0the\u00a0five provinces approved for Green Travel Trails are\u00a0Oudomxay,\u00a0Xayaboury,\u00a0Xieng\u00a0Khouang, Khammouane, and\u00a0Champasack.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health\u00a0(MoH)\u00a0also added that\u00a0tourism-related establishments such as tourism sites, hotels, and restaurants in the zones must ensure that at least 95 percent of their staff are fully vaccinated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All tourism establishments must also be certified with the\u00a0LaoSafe\u00a0certification, a health and hygiene program for the tourism and hospitality sector approved by MoH and MICT.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, the Ministry has not yet provided information on requirements for Lao nationals or foreign residents returning to Laos.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
