According to Bernama<\/a>, the Sarawak state government has allocated MYR114 million (USD26.9\u00a0million)\u00a0to develop the Sibu Industrial Park, the first industrial estate designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The park is sprawled over 61 hectares\u00a0of land\u00a0located at Jalan Sungai\u00a0Maaw\/Jalan Tanjung Manis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the development will undergo three phases, in which the first phase includes earthworks, construction of roads, and division of lots. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first phase is expected to be completed by February 2022, after being delayed by the pandemic, the chief minister said.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe contractor that has been appointed has given the assurance to us today that the project can be completed within the new timetable that has been set,\u201d he told the\u00a0media during\u00a0a visit\u00a0to\u00a0the project site.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, the state\u00a0government\u00a0has approved an allocation of MYR50 million under the 12<\/span>th<\/span> Malaysian Plan to finance industrial development.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Awang Tengah, Sarawak Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal, and Entrepreneur Development, said that the estate\u2019s division of lots will use a zone system based on the types of industries in order to be more orderly and systematic. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFood processing industries will be housed in their own zone that is appropriate for food processing, the same goes for other industries. This is the first facility provided for SME entrepreneurs in Sibu as we know the people here are hardworking and have\u00a0the expertise,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
