According to Inquirer.net<\/a>, renovations to improve home landscapes have increased as people more spend at home, and here are\u00a0some design concepts\u00a0that may become more prevalent following\u00a0COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>kitchen\u00a0<\/span><\/b>is a central element to every home, and with people storing more non-perishable items and groceries for longer periods, they require bigger pantries and the latest kitchen equipment and gadgets.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The work-from-home\u00a0(WFH)\u00a0trend has spiked amid the pandemic, so people now need\u00a0<\/span>flexible homes<\/span><\/b>\u00a0that have clearly defined\u00a0rooms to\u00a0separate home and work life,\u00a0as opposed to the popular open floor\u00a0plan.\u00a0Large rooms will be multipurpose, increasing the popularity of\u00a0modular and multi-functional furniture.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Further accommodating WFH, people need\u00a0<\/span>home offices\u00a0<\/span><\/b>to provide a conducive atmosphere for effective productivity.\u00a0There will be greater demand for functional private offices, and many have opted to build their offices in the front garden to feel like they\u2019re leaving home to go to work.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lockdown has deprived many of the greenery outside, creating higher demand for\u00a0<\/span>private green outdoor spaces. <\/span><\/b>Architects will have to find ways to incorporate the outdoors in homes, no matter how small they are, such as\u00a0green roofs, setbacks, and balconies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To help decrease contaminants transmission, homes\u00a0need to\u00a0have\u00a0<\/span>increased ventilation<\/span><\/b>\u00a0by implementing exhaust fans\u00a0or simply opening windows. Natural ventilation and lighting strategies cannot be\u00a0overemphasised\u00a0in order to maintain good mental wellbeing and indoor air quality.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover,\u00a0<\/span>touchless technology<\/span><\/b>\u00a0is expanding\u00a0to halt the spread of germs. Features such as hands-free\u00a0sinks, automated lights, and voice-controlled smart devices are now essential to the modern home\u00a0to support comfort\u00a0and health.<\/span><\/p>\n
