Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga says that Sri Lanka has been ranked among the world\u2019s top five Wellness Tourism Destinations this year, reported\u00a0<\/span>Daily Mirror<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As stated by the Global Wellness Institute, Sri Lanka ranked fourth for Wellness Tourism Destinations, while Bali tops the list.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was reported that Sri Lanka is best for spiritual healing.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of the pandemic,\u00a0people have turned towards mental, spiritual, and physical wellbeing to help themselves cope with the unprecedented situation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister noted that there is increasing demand for Ayurveda and traditional medicine, which has existed in Sri\u00a0Lanka for many years and the government has focused more on developing it.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister commented on this during a meeting with a group of ministers at the French International Tourism Exhibition in Paris, France. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He told the representatives not to worry inn sending tourists to Sri Lanka, as the country has now recovered to become a safe travel destination.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Minister Ranatunga, more than 40,000 tourists have visited Sri Lanka since the country\u2019s reopening in December 2020, and only 323 of them contracted COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n
