According to the\u00a0PropertyGuru\u00a0Malaysia Consumer Sentiment Study<\/a>,\u00a0the pandemic has brought about many hardships but also opportunities\u00a0in the real estate market, including\u00a0the notion of\u00a0living more sustainably.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Findings reveal that 73 percent of Malaysians are seeking changes to their home situation after spending more time at home due to the pandemic. Sustainable living has become a priority for Malaysians today.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Up to 90 percent of\u00a0Malaysians consider it important to live sustainably, with three in 10\u00a0preferring\u00a0a home designed to save\u00a0electricity.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of location, 57 percent\u00a0prioritise\u00a0living in an area without owning a vehicle, and where\u00a0public transportation is easily accessible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, as Work\u00a0From\u00a0Home (WFH) becomes the new normal\u00a0among businesses and employees, 84 percent of Malaysians consider it important to have additional spaces for a home office.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A conducive home office should include these top features: high-speed internet infrastructure, natural lighting, air ventilation, and smart cooling systems.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the pandemic induces people to make home changes, data also reveals that 38 percent want to renovate or repurpose certain areas of their home, while 35 percent are considering owning a home or moving out.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheldon Fernandez, country manager at\u00a0PropertyGuru\u00a0Malaysia, said, \u201cMalaysia has undergone various forms of lockdowns in the last 17 months, and this extended time at home has made more people\u00a0realise\u00a0the importance and benefits of having a space of their own, especially in the age of remote working.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
