According to Laotian Times<\/a>, the\u00a0tourism ministry has been directed by the\u00a0Laos government to work with localities across the country in preparing the reopening of tourism under \u201cnew normal\u201d conditions.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the government\u2019s July monthly meeting, Prime Minister\u00a0Phankham\u00a0Viphavanh\u00a0instructed relevant sectors to prepare for the opening of the Laos-China Railway in December.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister ordered the transport and tourism ministries to work together to\u00a0<\/span>\u201creopen tourism under the new normal as appropriate in each\u00a0locality\u00a0and in accordance with the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This brings hope to those in the industry, as the second wave of COVID-19 had spread across the nation during the Laos New Year holiday in April and\u00a0halted\u00a0activities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With every province under lockdown by May, bus stations\u00a0were closed, and airlines grounded, leaving the tour operators\u00a0grim, just as the Lao Thiao Lao domestic tourism campaign had kicked off.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The marketing campaign gathered the public and private sectors to work together in boosting domestic tourism amid the pandemic. It focused\u00a0largely online, promoting\u00a0great special offers to inspire young Laotians to visit some of the amazing destinations around the country.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the government\u2019s successful vaccination rollout has enabled 14 percent of the population to be vaccinated, with a plan to reach 50 percent by year\u2019s end.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover: Laos operators consider developing travel sites to improve provincial tourism<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Continued easing of lockdown measures has resumed\u00a0interprovincial\u00a0travel, with airlines and bus companies adhering to strict guidelines for passengers.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the Laos-China Railway scheduled to open in December, conditions could be ripe for the careful and responsible reopening of tourism in 2022.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
