According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamudi.com.ph\/journal\/evolution-of-houses-in-the-philippines-in-the-last-100-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Lamudi<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, many Filipino citizens\u00a0in the rural communities\u00a0still adopt this style\u00a0because of its simple design,\u00a0ease of execution, and readily available and affordable native materials, such as\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nipa\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and bamboo.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">During the American\u00a0occupation,\u00a0architect and heritage advocate Paulo\u00a0Alcazaren\u00a0said in his column\u00a0on\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.philstar.com\/lifestyle\/modern-living\/2017\/08\/04\/1725055\/modern-filipino-house-1935\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Philippine Star<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> that \u201cFilipinos were encouraged to build homes with more Western materials and with spatial patterns that partitioned spaces.\u201d This is why in the 1930s, the typical\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">bahay\u00a0kubo<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> can be seen with higher ceilings and bigger living rooms. In Negros Occidental, Silay City is referred to as the \u201cParis of Negros\u201d because of its magnificent, century-old Art Deco heritage homes and structures. These types of homes come with its own building security, landscapers, repairmen, housekeepers, and other servicemen.
