In the last week of February, <\/span>the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment\u00a0<\/span>stat<\/span>ed that<\/span> the country has accumulated approximately<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>USD5.46 billion\u00a0<\/span>worth of foreign<\/span>\u00a0direct investments<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(<\/span>FDI)<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>equal to 84.4 percent of the figure documented in February of last year,\u00a0<\/span>reported\u00a0<\/span>The Star<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to\u00a0<\/span>Vietnam News Agency<\/span>, roughly 126 foreign projects\u00a0<\/span>with an overall recorded capital of USD3.31 billion <\/span>were presented<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>investment licenses<\/span>. The total capital, however, suffered a year-on-year decline of 33.9 percent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fortunately,\u00a0<\/span>115 existing projects<\/span> have increased their investment capital by <\/span>over two folds<\/span>\u00a0to a total sum of USD1.61 billion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As for<\/span>\u00a0foreign investors\u2019 capital contributions and shares purchases<\/span>, data\u00a0<\/span>published revealed a<\/span>\u00a034.4 percent\u00a0<\/span>drop, amounting to<\/span>\u00a0USD543.1 million.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the highs and lows, around 17 sectors were able to benefit from the\u00a0<\/span>foreign\u00a0<\/span>capital pumped<\/span>, including <\/span>processing and manufacturing at USD3 billion<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and real estate at USD485 million<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Such positive sentiment towards the market\u00a0<\/span>continues to <\/span>empower\u00a0<\/span>real<\/span>\u00a0estate leaders, namely<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>PropertyGuru Vietnam Property Awards<\/span><\/a>\u00a0winners<\/span>\u00a0Gamuda Land Vietnam,\u00a0SonKim Land Corporation,\u00a0Vingroup, and more<\/span>, giving<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>m the<\/span>\u00a0drive<\/span>\u00a0and determination<\/span>\u00a0to do better and achieve m<\/span>ore\u00a0<\/span>amidst the\u00a0<\/span>seemingly endless<\/span>\u00a0battle with\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>pandemic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of<\/span>\u00a0the 46 countries and territories investing in\u00a0<\/span>Vietnam<\/span>, Japan\u00a0<\/span>reigns\u00a0<\/span>at the topmost, i<\/span>njecting USD1.46 billion or about 30 percent of the total<\/span>\u00a0capital<\/span>, followed by Singapore at USD1.07 billion (19.6 percent) and South Korea at USD1.05 billion (19.3 percent).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>southern province of Can Tho\u00a0<\/span>received the high<\/span>est percentage of FDI, having acquired USD1.31 billion or 24.2 percent of the\u00a0<\/span>total<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Ha Phong city\u00a0<\/span>trailed behind\u00a0<\/span>with USD918 million or 16.8 percent and\u00a0<\/span>then\u00a0<\/span>Bac Giang with USD573 million or 10.5 percent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
