On 29 March,\u00a0<\/span>Channel News Asia<\/span><\/a>\u00a0reported that Japan will expedite the vaccination<\/span>\u00a0programme\u00a0<\/span>next month<\/span>, with the COVID-19 vaccine minister Taro Kono pledging\u00a0<\/span>to get 10 million doses of vaccines each week in May.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Renowned for its gorgeous powder snow, also known as Japow, this town in Shiribeshi Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan once revelled in the growing number of local and foreign tourists<\/a> during its heyday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>h<\/span>e minister\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>announcement\u00a0<\/span>comes as a\u00a0<\/span>relief\u00a0<\/span>as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Greater Nisek<\/span>o, which\u00a0<\/span>remains to be one of the most visited ski destinations in the world<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0have been waiting out the pandemic, seemingly resembling a ghost town.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In November 2020,\u00a0when the cases rose\u00a0alarmingly,\u00a0the government declared a temporary pause on the Go To Travel scheme\u00a0that aimed to encourage\u00a0local\u00a0tourism. This decision has caused the real estate market to suffer as\u00a0profits declined, investors took a step back, and tourists remain confined in their own\u00a0homes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
